Merry Christmas 2011 from the John and Jaimie ranch! We wish you a holiday season full of God’s grace, love, and blessings. The last year has been full of challenges (lightning strike) and adventures (vacations), and we are excited to soon celebrate our second wedding anniversary (January 16th).
Over the past year we have grown our cattle herd. John stays busy working around our place, as well as working for his uncle, Bob. He is also a sales representative for REA Hybrids. Needless to say, there is never a dull moment for John. He has been in good health, besides the South Dakota Sniffles that seem to affect all of us around this time of year. Over the summer he enjoyed a little golfing and spending time on the river.
My year has been filled with graduate school, teaching middle school reading at Mobridge-Pollock Middle School, and coaching 5-8th grade volleyball. I love working with middle school students! This last year I started blogging about my adventures as a ranch wife. Writing brings me such pleasure, and I like to share my stories with others. Please check it out at www.displacedcitygirl.wordpress.com. I continue to read whenever I get the chance. Grandma Orpha once told me to never carry a purse too small to hold a novel. Needless to say, I use a big purse.
John and I went to Arizona over Labor Day weekend. It was our first big vacation together. We lounged by the pool, ate delicious food, and spent time seeing the sights in the Scottsdale area. Normally our schedules do not coincide very well, because I am busy in the fall and winter, and John is busy in the spring, summer, and fall. So, we took advantage of our getaway opportunity. Hopefully we can do more of that in the future.
Chester continues to be a source of entertainment for us. He is a shaggy, playful dog! He enjoys playing with his favorite stuffed animal and his best friend, Norman. He swam in the Missouri River for the first time last summer. He is also getting better about jumping into the bathtub on his own!
We are so blessed to have you in our lives. We truly hope you have a joyous Christmas season!
Love and God Bless,
John and The Displaced City Girl
