One of the most iconic musicians of my lifetime passed away yesterday.  It didn’t truly hit me, sock-you-in-the-gut kind of hit me, until this morning.  Prince’s music has been the background music of my life.

I cannot specifically remember my first exposure to his amazing sound, but I would guess it was the bathtub scene in Pretty Woman.  Regardless, I remember receiving one of my first CDs in elementary school; it was Diamonds and Pearls.  My love for this musician became excessive after that.  My Aunt Cam who is a talented musician herself (she has an amazing Prince story, but I will let her share that!) played the pipe organ at John and my wedding.  Our recessional song was “Raspeberry Beret”.

Prince was a faithful man, and I pray that he is in a good place now.  This world won’t be the same without him, but I am thankful for the amazing musical influence he provided us while he was here.

God bless your soul, Prince, and all of the people who loved you,

The Displaced City Girl
