I say this every year, but this summer passed so quickly I can hardly believe it. Next Wednesday I will be back at school preparing for another year with my beloved middle school kids. Although this summer passed like a blur, I think it has been the best summer yet!
Our boys are the best. I’ve gotten to spend the entire summer reading books, playing at the park, digging at the beach, and going on “adventures” (Adventures are any of a variety of activities done outside away from the house.) with these two adorable little munchkins. Don’t get me wrong, they aren’t angels, but they are a lot of fun. As they grow and learn they become more fun and such unique individuals.
My husband, sister, bro-in-law, and I snuck away for a night and saw Weezer in concert. That was the big highlight of the summer for me. I purchased VIP tickets six months in advance and still had to wait in a forever-long line to get in, but it was so worth it. I hollered, sang along, and even cried a little…just a little. It was awesome.
I was also given the opportunity to devote much of my summer to discernment and soul-searching. Anyone can do this at any time, but I say I was “given” the opportunity, because so many people helped make it possible. My church family and my prayer warriors are simply amazing. I love them. I am grateful. The future is still unclear, but I am a happier, calmer person, and I know where I need to be right now. For those of you who encouraged, supported, and prayed for me this summer, thank you. Thank you!
Summers allow us to sit back and take note of all that is around us. I feel like Abraham when the Lord asked him to look up at the sky and take note of the number of stars. His blessings would be as innumerable as the stars in the sky. That’s life, folks! We are so blessed, it’s unfathomable. It really is.
Peace and Blessings,
The Displaced City Girl
