WELCA Triennial 2017

Thank you thank you thank you to my church ladies for sending me on this trip! Not only did I get to visit Minneapolis, one of my favorite places, but I had the privilege of hearing many great speakers.

Bishop Eaton preached at opening worship, and it was amazing. Leymah Gbowee spoke at one of our plenary sessions, and it opened our eyes and our hearts. One of my favorite speakers was Kelly Fryer. She’s the author of Reclaiming the “C” Word: Daring to be Church Again. She challenged people’s thinking and made some of us uncomfortable. But, as we talked a lot over the weekend, Jesus also challenged people’s thinking, and he also made the comfortable uncomfortable.

The theme was All Anew, and I feel new and refreshed. The next triennial is in Phoenix. I hope you’ll join the South Dakota WELCA on that trip!

Peace and Blessings,

The Displaced City Girl
